Bunny Day Miracle

So I fully expected to spend my birthday/easter sunday, alone playing some video game, shoveling ice cream down my maw, or perhaps cramming it down my gullet, or spooning it lovingly all night long. But instead, an easter miracle happened, and in the morning Maryl's mum called us up to invite me along. Me? Along. Me? Along.

I was baffled and surprised and tired a lot because I stayed up to 6am the night before, thinking I could sleep in to 5pm if I wanted.

I'm not sure if it's the holiday spirit, or if they've finally accepted me as an actual person in this world, but whatever happened, it was absolutely lovely. They had an easter egg hunt, and a basket finding adventure, and egg dying, and a delicious linner/dunch of shish-kabobs. Shish-kabobs! It was incredible.

The company was polite and on the verge of friendly. They made actual efforts to make me feel welcome. I was blown away and more than a little frightened. And the best of all of course was watching Holden enjoy one of a kid's favorite holidays. He can't stop hiding things around the house and then surprising himself by finding it 10 seconds later. And of course he stuffed himself silly with chocolates, but really, what's one to do otherwise on such a joyful, candy-filled day?

I feel relieved, and happy that today went so well. I miss my family a lot, and it's been especially painful missing them on my birthday and easter, but finally for the first time here, I felt welcomed into a new family.

Lacy Tree:

Happy Birthday Harry! I'm glad you had a good day. As fate would have it Michael's wife's birthday is the same day as yours.
