Ah, summer

It's delicious and warm here. And sometimes even hot. I need shorts! And I even picked up some sandals - and not the $30 pair that I wanted, but actual decent ones at the behest of Maryl-dear. I figure it's always a woman's prerogative to assign dressings. The added bonus this time is that they are super comfortable and won't make my feet stink.

On Mother's day morn, I overslept and completely forgot to get up early and make breakfast in bed. I'm not used to this holiday! But that's a lame excuse. And by overslept I mean Holden woke us up at 7am. Next year I'll make breakfast the night before and just nuke it and slap it on a tray - I think that works, right?

The rest of the day was spent hiking! We went up to Silver lake; a nice hour long drive northwards into the thick forests of Ontario. We only got lost once, because they enjoy -not- putting visible signs up, but we got there safe and sound and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day hiking around a pristine, marvelous lake. Holden was such a trooper, it was unbelievable. Who knew 3-year olds could hike for three hours and not complain once about it? Lunch was processed meat and cheese stuffed between processed bread, but it was delicious. My only complaint of the whole ordeal were the numerous flies and mosquitoes that assailed us, but what can you do? Flap a jacket around your head while you're eating a sandwich? Flapping it around and around, and hitting your loved ones on the head accidentally, more than once? Pshaw to that I say. Well I say it now, knowingly.

After the lovely, beautifully wonderful day, we stopped by Maryl's mum's house to visit and have dinner and pie. It wasn't even awkward at all. It was just nice. It made me happy. Happy I am! Especially since we'll be seeing Evil Dead the musical this friday! Mwahaha! Didn't get seats in the "bloodsplatter" rows, but hopefully there will be some extra splashes since we're one row right behind the "red" zone!!! In anticipation, we rented the movie. Which she hasn't seen. That has to be love, I'm sure of it, to say, "Huh? What? You want to go see -what- musical? Well... ok!"
