Saturday we had a grand day with Holden! We drove an hour down towards Toronto, but knowing that due to the Luminato Festival it would be full of traffic, we took the train! Holden loves trains but this was his first trip in one.

At the Festival, they had lots of kids activities! One of which was free face painting. At first, Holden was very skeptical when we described to him what the process entailed.

But soon enough he was dead set on getting his face painted up as -- a green puppy! The lady said... are you sure that's ok with your mommy? Of course it is! Holden made the best green puppy ever!

People's faces would light up whenever we'd stroll by them, because how could you not, seeing such an adorable green puppy?
Another event they had set up was for kids was to make their own Luminato masks. They also had butterfly wings to construct, but Holden wasn't into that. Who wants to run around with weird butterfly wings?

Nearby there was a stage, with some excitement about to start, so we rolled over and took a seat in the grass to see what all the hubbub was. It was a man putting on a fun mask show! Sounded pretty good, we were excited - but the show itself was very awkward. He's basically just walked around stage putting on different masks that showed different emotions. Look now.. he's... shy looking... that mask is shy looking and he's walking around as if he's shy. ... for 5 minutes... >_> and now... now he's got a smirk! Look at him sit down with his hand on the side of his face... like.. he has a smirk. That's great mister! <_< Probably would have been a lot better with some sort of music in the background. Holden grew bored quickly, and we were very happy to have a good reason to get up and leave.
Around the next bend awaited another surprise - one that was very frightening for poor Holden! Giant men!

But it's ok, it was just a nice lady inside - see? And she popped her head out and waves. Whew! Not so scary after all!

And around the OTHER corner - another little kiosk with JUST the right thing for a cute little green puppy - cute little puppy ears! Doesn't he look like a wonderful little martian pup?

It was a day of firsts for Holden, so why not keep confusing him with new, strange things, by taking him on a his first boat trip!

It was a little rickety at first but he quickly loved the boat ride, and wanted nothing more than to stand for the whole thing looking out at all the mini-islands full of hundreds of canadian geese. Nice view too!

It's like I'm a professional photographer, huh!
More firsts! First chinese food! He complained a little that the rice was brown and not white like he's used to, but seriously, who doesn't like fried rice?

I'm always a fan of good chinese food when I'm in Toronto; it's so hard to find in this town. :(
He was a tuckered out boy after a long, wonderful day of exciting new firsts. So we gave him his night cap of blood and guts, which seemed to sedate him as usual. Sleep well, my little vampire demon monster/green alien lovely puppy thing.

How cute...Holden looks like a little sweetheart. I have that same picture of the Toronto skyline...I took it when we all went on our family vacation to Niagara Falls many moons ago. I think you boys went to a water park that day.
